Astoria
|
Hotel "Astoria", located in the center of Saint-Petersburg. Build in 1911-1912 (arch. Lidval F.I.). Was the most fashionable in Russia. In march, 1919, Lenin lived here while being on the Elizarov's funeral. In 1914 and 1934 G.Wells stayed in Astoria. Today the complex of the hotel includes the near-standing building - ex-hotel "Angleter". 25 of December 1925 in one of the Angleter's rooms tragically passed away famous and loved poet Sergey Esenin. There's a nice garden aside of the hotel and in front of the Saint-Isaacs cathedral. In that garden my friends and I like to have one or two beers, you know :)
